Mean Girls - 2023

Navigating a fierce African savanna does not seem easier than high school politics in suburban Illinois, but Cady Heron - new girl at North Shore High School - would beg to differ. She quickly learns that life in “girl world” is even more cutthroat and brutal than she thought possible when she aims to dethrone ‘apex predator’ Regina George from the top of the food chain. Accompanied by social outcasts Janis and Damian, Cady conspires to take down the Plastics (the clique that rules the school) from the inside, but loses both herself and her friends along the way. Inspired by Tina Fey’s hilarious 2004 comedy of the same name, Mean Girls: High School Version offers an insightful and irreverent perspective on feminism, popularity, authenticity, and what it really means to be a “mean girl”.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast - 2019

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast tells the story of Belle, a young woman, who does not quite fit in to the small town in which she lives; she longs for adventure. In an act of selflessness, she falls into the clutches of the Beast, who has been cursed to remain in his monstrous form because of his selfishness. To break the spell, he must learn to love and be loved. Despite his beastly form and character, he is supported by his servants, who have also been affected by the curse. They too have been magically transformed – into household objects. Undeterred by their limitations and personal difficulties, the servants, led by Lumière and Cogsworth, work tirelessly to help Belle and the Beast see past outward appearances and to realize that beauty is more than skin deep. This musical follows the journey of self-discovery and shows the importance of looking past physical appearance in order to recognize that beauty is being the best possible version of yourself from the inside and out.

Hairspray - 2017

Hairspray is the very topical story of the upbeat, big-haired teenager Tracy Turnblad in 1962 Baltimore who, through the course of the show, shows audiences that racial integration is the future and segregation is a relic of the past. Tracy dreams of dancing on the popular TV program “The Corny Collins Show”; despite not fitting the show’s narrow beauty standards, Tracy’s confidence and talent earn her a spot on the program. As she becomes a local celebrity, Tracy quickly realizes that the show enforces racial segregation, allowing Black dancers to appear only on a monthly “Negro Day. Determined to change this unfair system, Tracy teams up with her friends, including Seaweed J. Stubbs and heartthrob Link Larkin, to fight for integration on the show. Along the way, Tracy faces opposition from the snobbish producer Velma Von Tussle and her jealous daughter Amber Von Tussle. With courage, humor, and infectious music, Tracy shows that changing opinions is not always easy but is possible with perseverance and strong convictions. The musical celebrates individuality, challenges prejudice, and promotes equality, showing that one determined voice can inspire a movement while dancing to an unforgettable, high-energy soundtrack.
